This week I am showcasing a woman who is not known for being a socialite right now, but is positioned to become one in the near future.Tina Fey was born Elizabeth Stamatina Fey according to Wikipedia, and is an American writer, comedian, actress and producer. The reason I chose to showcase Tina Fey as the featured socialite in this post is because she is a very good example of what it takes to become a socialite, and we all have a front row seat to watch Tina Fey rise and become a regular amongst other celebrity socialites. According to Wikipedia:
"A socialite is a person who is known to be a part of fashionable high society because of his or her regular participation in social activities and fondness for spending a significant amount of time entertaining and being entertained."
I think Tina Fey could easily slip into this role. She is best known for her work on Mean Girls, Saturday Night Live (SNL), and 30 Rock, a situation comedy loosely based on her experiences at Saturday Night Live. Recently however, Tina Fey grabbed hold of the global spotlight for appearing on Saturday Night Live portraying 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.
She had everyone buzzing about the portrayal, and even got the attention of Sarah Palin herself.
Tina Fey played Sarah Palin to perfection, so much so that it was hard to tell them apart in this skit:
With all the buzz surrounding Tina Fey, she is positioned to become a highly sought after celebrity not only in her career but in her social life as well.
She expressed her interest in laying the Sarah Palin portrayal to rest immediately after Election Day, and I am excited to see what projects she takes on next. Tina Fey has won five Emmys, a Golden Globe and a SAG Award and in early 2008, she starred in the movie Baby Mama, alongside Amy Poehler. The movie is hilarious! I love Amy Poehler too, and when these two get together it's awesome. Maybe we'll see Tina and Amy out on the social scene together more and more who knows? In any case, we can bet that Tina Fey has good things in store for us... possibly through TV, the big screen, or in the world of celebrity socialites.
